Home Textiles

In the first half of this year, China's domestic textile exports maintained a rapid growth, and the export scale reached a record high. The export of our textile products to the world's top 20 markets has maintained growth.

The specific characteristics of China's home textile export from January to June are as follows:

01 export increased rapidly, reaching a record high

From January to June, China's domestic textile exports reached US $15.56 billion, an increase of 54% over the same period of last year and 22.4% over the same period of 2019, with the export scale reaching a record high. At the same time, the export of home textile products accounted for 11% of the total export volume of textile and garment products, which was 42% higher than the growth rate of the overall export of textile and clothing, effectively driving the overall export growth of the industry. Among them, the export of curtains, carpets, blankets and other categories of products maintained a rapid growth, with an increase of more than 60%. The export of kitchen supplies and table textiles grew relatively slowly, between 28% and 42%.

According to the main enterprises, due to the impact of the new global epidemic, some orders from India and ASEAN have returned since this year. At present, the orders of enterprises in hand are relatively full, and the trend is expected to continue to the third quarter or the end of the year. At present, the main enterprises remain cautious and optimistic, and have not blindly expanded their production capacity. After the global epidemic situation is stable, they will still face the pressure of industrial transfer and order outflow.

02 the United States leads the recovery of international home textile market demand

In the first half of the year, the export of home textile products to the world's top 20 markets maintained growth.

In the U.S., Europe and Japan, China's export to the U.S. market grew at the highest rate, with an export volume of US $5.17 billion, an increase of 65% over the same period last year, an increase of 30.5% over the same period in 2019, and accounting for 33.2% of the total export of home textile products.

In addition, the export of home textile products to the EU also maintained a rapid growth, with the export volume of US $2 billion, an increase of 42.4% over the same period of last year, 10% over the same period of 2019, accounting for 13.2% of the total export of home textile products;

The export of home textile products to the Japanese market grew relatively slowly, with an export volume of 1.37 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.8% over the same period of last year, an increase of 6.2% over the same period of 2019, accounting for 8.8% of the total export of home textile products.

From the perspective of regional markets, exports to Latin America, ASEAN and North America grew rapidly, with a year-on-year increase of 65% - 112%.

03 the export of the top five provinces and cities recovered steadily, and the export growth rate of eight provinces and cities was more than doubled

Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai and Guangdong ranked among the top five domestic textile export provinces and cities. In the first half of the year, exports all maintained a steady recovery, with an export growth rate of 46% - 59%. It is worth noting that Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces together account for 55% of the total domestic textile exports, and the export provinces and cities are increasingly concentrated.

Among the other provinces and cities, the export of Yunnan, Shanxi, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Tibet and Gansu provinces and cities grew at a high speed, with an increase rate of more than double.

04 importers maintain optimistic sales expectations, but sales fell month on month

In July, the National Federation of retailers (NRF) raised its full year retail forecast for 2021. Retail sales in the U.S. market in 2021 are expected to grow by 10.5% to 13.5% over 2020, between $4.44 trillion and $4.56 trillion, about 5 percentage points higher than the previous forecast released in February. During the same period, the data released by the US Department of Commerce showed that the monthly sales of household goods and furniture in the United States declined month on month. The sales volume in June was 11.83 billion US dollars, a decrease of 3.6% compared with the revised retail sales of 12.27 billion US dollars in May. The decline was the largest among all kinds of goods published by the US Department of Commerce, but the overall retail situation tended to be stable.

In addition, with the gradual alleviation of the global epidemic situation, offline trading is expected to resume operation, boosting the global trade market to resume prosperity. In July, the American Home Textile Association announced that the offline activities of New York home textile market week would resume this autumn, while maintaining the online platform to meet the exhibition needs of suppliers and retailers who could not go to New York for ordering activities due to travel restrictions. At home, the autumn Guangzhou Commodity Fair is also in preparation, both online and offline.
