Huang baomei was born in Shanghai in 1931. Her childhood was very hard. In 1944, 13-year-old Huang baomei entered the Japanese Yufeng cotton mill as a child labor. I have to get up at four o'clock every morning. I have to stand in front of the spinning machine to take care of the yarn after being "copied" (i.e. body searching, reporter's note). I can't see the sunshine all day long. I don't say that my waist is sore, and my fingers are often bleeding from the yarn. Her childhood experience made her have a deeper expectation and feeling for the new China under the leadership of the party.

After the liberation of Shanghai, with her trust in the new era and her gratitude to the Communist Party, Huang baomei devoted her enthusiasm to active production and labor. Based on her position, she worked hard and improved her technology, and explored a set of advanced operation method of "single line tour, two-sided care, no turning back", which expanded the stand capacity from 400 spindles to 800 spindles, greatly improving the production efficiency. Due to her hard work and outstanding achievements, in November 1952, 21-year-old Huang baomei became a glorious Communist Party member.

Since 1953, new China officially opened the prelude of socialist construction. This year, 22-year-old Huang baomei emerged from more than 300000 spinning workers in Shanghai, becoming the first generation of labor model in New China, with the fastest record of 1000 spindles per person. After returning to Shanghai, Huang baomei modestly learned from the industry's technical pacesetter and led the workers and sisters to make progress together. The three spinning workshop she managed was rated as a model worker group in Shanghai. The 17th national cotton factory where she worked once contributed 40% of cotton cloth to the people's Republic of China.

In 1958, director Xie Jin's film "Huang baomei" had such a saying: "in the myth, the seven fairies are the most capable of spinning and weaving, but there are no fairies. The real fairies are our textile girls." This simple but full of materialist speculative spirit, it describes Huang baomei, the outstanding leader of Shanghai textile industry, who plays in the film.

The leading actor of this film is also Huang baomei herself. Because of her beautiful appearance and her experience as an actress, many people invited her to become a professional actress. But she felt that she was a textile female worker and loved the cause. She still asked to return to the textile workshop.

At the age of 26, Huang baomei was selected as a cadre, but only a few days later, she was "uncomfortable all over" and solemnly asked to return to the garage. She said, "I'm an ordinary female worker, and the textile industry is where I can do a lot." Huang baomei worked in the workshop for 42 years until she retired in January 1987. During this period, she has been rated as a model worker in Shanghai, the Ministry of textile industry and the whole country for seven times.

In the 1980s, Huang baomei was "seconded" to Qidong, Jiangsu Province to help set up Junan cotton spinning factory. At that time, cotton textile raw materials and machinery were in great demand. Huang baomei used her working experience and social relations to go to Beijing and Qingdao to run for the enterprise day and night. When she left three years later, the small township factory was already very popular. Huang baomei did not ask the factory for more money.

After her retirement, the Xinjiang Construction Corps invited her to Shihezi city to help prepare for the construction of a cotton mill. She has been in and out of Xinjiang many times, from plant design to equipment purchase, from personnel selection to technical training, conscientiously and personally. Someone asked, "you don't own shares and don't get paid. Why do you work so hard? When you retire, you can enjoy the happiness. " Huang baomei said: "party members are not retired. If we party members can fight for life, can the country not be prosperous and strong?"

In 1994, Huang baomei saw that the economic situation of some early retired model workers was not good and the family burden was heavy. Therefore, with the help of Shanghai model worker association, she led more than 20 retired model workers to raise funds to establish Shanghai Yinghao science and Technology Industrial Company, and personally served as the chairman and general manager. At the beginning of the establishment of the company, it was agreed that the enterprise would not pay dividends and take out the profits to help the old model workers in difficulty. Everyone affectionately called the company "model worker company".

After returning to the community in 2006. Huang baomei found that many residents were busy with their work and afraid of trouble, which led to the failure of the community industry committee to build after three years. She sees in the eye, anxious in the heart, does the work door to door, "the community is also the home, the resident committee cadre only has a few people, does not depend on everybody how to do?" Just like the factory sisters when they were young, "mother Huang" used "embroidery" to persuade community residents to actively participate in the construction of their homes, and the community industry committee was finally established. After that, Huang baomei also actively cooperated with the industry committee, installed monitoring probe, mosquito lamp, replaced the old letter box, broadened the emergency channel... The community environment is more beautiful, the neighborhood relationship is more harmonious.

During the epidemic period, Huang baomei also gave full play to her exemplary role, leading her children and grandchildren to donate money together with the residents of the community to send love and care for the "city Guardian". In 2017, Huang baomei's family was rated the most beautiful family in China.
